I’m THRILLED to introduce a new newsletter. CappaWork isn’t going anywhere, it’ll still move when the spirit does. But Simple Strategies is the new kid in town. I’ve been writing it once a week for a month and I love it.
After I founded CappaWork I got some excellent advice from my uncle, who had a long career in publishing. “Cashflow is what will make or break this business.”
“Cashflow is what will make or break this business.”
I, like the naive, MBA-touting, smarty-pants I was, said “Right, I’ve read in a book….” and then proceeded to give some complicated strategy I read about.
A year and a half later, what almost killed CappaWork?
Cashflow.
Being a bootstrapped entrepreneur (no outside investment) and not knowing how to manage cashflow is like trying to swim with only your legs. You might keep your nose above water, but it’s really hard and you kind of feel like you’re drowning. I learned that the hard way.
I finally figured it out. But in the process of doing it, realized that nearly every business book I’d read or situation I’d consulted on in corporate settings presumed some kind of outside investment. Maybe it was VC, or wealthy friends and family, or maybe it was mortgaging a house like the maniac Sir James Dyson.
But what about the entrepreneurs who DON’T want to take on investment?
Strangely, there’s basically nothing to help entrepreneurs who want to run a profitable, cashflowing business right from the jump.
After I painfully figured out the principles for myself, I started helping other entrepreneurs do the same. I’ve been consulting for one incredible entrepreneur since last October and in four short months she’s seen her profit go up by nearly $40k. And she’s working less. A win win! (Profit, not revenue, which it turns out is a wildly important distinction.)
So anyway, the principles work!
And to share it, I started a newsletter!
Simple Strategies is a free newsletter helping bootstrapped entrepreneurs increase their profit without sacrificing their time.
If you know someone who is trying to increase the profitability of their business, would you pass it along?
I’m trying to reach 100 people this month. It’ll always be free.
This week, subscribers got the clearest illustration of a principle that is integral to increasing profit. It has to do with a Chili’s on an Air Force base in the Pacific.

Since CappaWork is focused on living and working well, not on entrepreneurship, I’m not going to sign anyone up.
I hate when people do that to me.
If you’re interested in SimpleStrategies, just pop on over and sign up!
Until soon,
Nate
